Thrid Day of the Long March

LONG MARCH FOR RESTORE THE INDUS RIVER & DELTA.
The long march launched by the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) on March 2 from the tail-end coastal town of Kharo Chhan to celebrate the International Rivers Day on March 14, reached Latt town on Thursday evening.

With the theme of “Reclaim our Rivers, our Rights in 2010,” the rally will culminate at Jamshoro on March 14 where a public meeting will be held.

According to a press release issued by the PFF, activists from the coastal areas of Karachi, Thatta and Badin and members of inland water bodies from several parts of Sindh are participating in the march. The long march aims at bringing together political activists, civil society representatives and others to launch a struggle for the restoration of the Indus River and the rehabilitation of the Indus Delta.

When the march reached Sakro Town, hundreds of fishermen, farmers, herdsmen, women and activists of marine and inland water bodies received the participants. A public meeting was also organised. PFF claimed that all political parties and civil society groups have assured their support for the long march.
